This user appears on his own map but not on the general map:
http://www.transitionnetwork.org/node/2488/edit

This user added himself to the people directory and then noted that his mate (2488) was no longer on the map:
http://www.transitionnetwork.org/node/3240/edit

They both appear on the own profile page maps but it looks like location module can only handle one user per postcode.

IE users are getting an error message about the registration page having secure and insecure items on it and do they want to proceed.

ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184960

PITA but on the registration page this may get some folks upset. Previous problems with captchas now resolved by putting the captcha in https (as the page is secure pages). can this be done for the other items that are not being served from https?

This is a critical feature of a resilient, efficient Drupal website IMHO... It provides:

More value for money from the existing hosting package & server

Much faster response times for anonymous users

Vastly faster response times for logged in users (since Drupal/Apache?/MySQL are freer to handle those requests)

More resilience: 'Slashdot effect'-proof; faster, safer web services requests

Better uptime (probably!)

Ability to handle low-level DDoS attacks

Adding this ticket in the hope it gets some love...

Breadcrumbs are not working for individual blog posts.

Their blogs are being imported - e.g.:

The Patterns are now called 'Ingredients'. Some of the Ingredients have become Tools'.

Create a new content type called 'Tool':

Title

Number (sequential: currently 21 of them)

Description (will include text and photos)

Related ingredient (2 way node relationship)

Relationships:

At this point, Rob thinks that it's a one to one relationship between tools and ingredients, but it's possible to be a one (tool) to many (ingredients) relationship or many to many. It's emergent.

The tools need to be related to the 'stage' of the ingredients. See #265 and #266 so that:

we can see them in a list along with the patterns

we can see 'tools by stage' views/blocks in ingredients section and landing pages for stages

At individual tools page we need to see 'related ingredient(s)' reflecting the relationship.

The news RSS feed displays a full list of all the themes an item is categorised by in front of the item itself. This basically therefore publishes all the 'theme' metadata before the content. Not the desired effect. Can't see how to make it into:

Title
author
date
body

Don't need the themes list in the RSS feed - or if you want to keep it - bung it at the bottom...

National Hub co-ordinators need to be able to edit initiatives in order to make them official. This doesn't seem to be working. I have checked with http://www.transitionnetwork.org/user/gerd-wessling and can't see an 'edit' tab on initiative profiles, which a national hub co-ordinator would need to see.

Remove from http://www.transitionnetwork.org/node/add/project-profile

second 'Links and Partnerships' input field

second 'Sources of funding' input field

second 'Sources of materials' input field

include a field enabling users to add a link to a youtube/vimeo video which is then embedded (see https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/ticket/259)

'concertina' the lower sections: Resources, People,

Make massive big arrows or something like that indicate the 'concertina-ed' sections with some text saying: "To add information about [section name], click this arrow" (or whatever the thing is)

Remove the 'explano-blurb' under every editor saying what they can and can't enter

halve the length of the editors

Bundle 'inspiration', 'outcomes so far', unexpected outcomes, obstacles, lessons learned into one concertina-ed section called "Outcomes and Lessons learned" and handle as per 6 above.

apart from the 'project aim' and 'project description' either make all the editors proper WYSIWYG editors or all the editors simple text entry - what's best?

Remove 'revision information' for normal users

Add "Transition stage" with multi-choice options which relate to the stages in the ingredients (as per the resources) just below the project description

normal users can't see the themes (!) re-add them in a grid style below 'Transition stage' (and the last thing before the concertina-ed section)

please could you make a handy button that can be easily embedded into a Transition Initiative/or other website to promote the conference? It needs to follow the current design guidelines and have the following text on it:

"

Transition Conference
July 2011
Connect::learn::inspire
Click for more info.

"
It needs to link to the conference page:
http://www.transitionnetwork.org/conference-2011-uk

It needs to be on the webservers (trackable if possible), and presented to the users as the other widgets (ie with a bunch of code they copy and paste into their widgets).

Can you then send it to Jim (if neccesary) to stick it onto the site?

Ed can't see where to change this - so:

Users not logged in get a gruff error message when the try to add an initiative profile:

The Ingredients are what the Patterns used to be, with some changes. Some patterns are now ingredients, and some are now tools (and some became projects, but that's irrelevant for this ticket). When the changes became apparent, Ed deleted all the old patterns. Then added all the temporary content into them with Helen just in case they would be needed. Now Ed will be adding the first wave of final content back into the 'Ingredients' on Wednesday 22 June. Ed has sent Jim the sample of the book to get an idea.

Getting a bunch of this done by 22/06 09:00 would be great; we could get feedback quickly for iterative work.

Change all references everywhere from patterns to ingredients

Index page: /ingredients

Each stage to have stage heading (linked to stage page)

Lists of ingredients by stage (all hyperlinks)

Tools in this section to fit into the stages as well if possible: #246

Stage page: /ingredients/[stage-name]

Stage title

Stage introduction copy

List of Ingredients in that stage (hyperlinks)

List of Tools in that stage (hyperlinks)

Blocks on RHS:

-- Related tools
-- Related resources
-- Related projects

Individual Ingredients pages: /ingredients/[stage-name]/[ingredient-name]
(Must have printable option in A4 format to show Title, picture, Challenge, main copy teaser, Solution (going to need a 'print' icon somewhere, sorry Laura))
IN ORDER:

Ingredient title (size: H2)

Ingredient picture automatically embedded from admin adding

"Challenge" (size: H3)

Challenge blurb (usually one, two lines max)

"Description" (size H3)

Description blurb (teaser of description copy (length TBC) with anchor link/more link for full description (rollover appear or anchor link) (size: normal)

"Solution" (size: H3)

Solution blurb (usually one, two lines max)

"Full Description"

Full description copy (linked to from the teaser as above)

Blocks on RHS (driven by whether two-way relationships have been added by editors. If no data, do not show block, visibility and position to be moveable by Ed)

Related Ingredients

Related Tools

Related Projects

Related Resources

Comments to this ingredient

NB: therefore:

remove the following from the 'patterns' (which will be re-named 'ingredients' profile:

Ratings

Confidence level

'Larger patterns within which this sits' reference fields

Pattern status

BOTH WYSIWYG editors for links to other patterns (Context, Connections to other patterns)

Rename:

'Smaller patterns to think about...' with 'Related ingredients' reference fields

Blocks and views:

These will also appear on the 'stages' landing pages #266 so a view is required for that too.

Each ingredient has a stage. These stages will be used to help users navigate though the content - as a launching point. Not unlike the /theme pages - re-presenting all content associated with that stage.

Title: stage name
Editable introduction field with WYSIWYG
Panels showing all related content types related to that stage. Currently:

Resources

Ingredients

Tools

Design: Laura to work with the book designer to find some coherence with the book. There may be colour coding in the book per stage - is this useful for us?

We may roll this out across the other content types in phase 5, but let's start with this.

Transition US site has gone down very well with users and staff members
In general - bring it a bit trendier, bit whiter, etc. Another step on, so to speak. So it feels fresher, lighter, bit less hobbit-y, bit more urban-y. But sticking to user profile of 'older' and 'a bit afraid of technology'

#271: Social Reporting blogs and portal

Transition Network are launching a social reporting pilot project in September to run for three months. It's all rather cutting edge and hip to the max. Charlotte Du Cann, who runs this: http://transitionnorwich.blogspot.com/ is our editor. From now on 'SR' means 'Social Reporting' and 'SRs' is 'Social Reporters'.

It's about telling the inside story of being in Transition, to complement the currently very explicit knowledge forms on the site. And it's the beginning of an alternative news/story network, using a mix of citizen journalism editorial style, and storytelling approach. NB: there's a para below about another branch of storytelling which may want to share the story portal with the SRs in 2012.

The pilot will be 12 bloggers around the UK (and probably some outside) who will blog 2 or 3 times per month each. There will be an editor, who will write posts, particularly monthly round-ups. There will also be guest editors, who may write weekly round-ups (it is assumed that the guest editors can use the editor's blog). At the end of the pilot, we will do a lessons learned reflection to work out whether to keep it going, and how to open it up to others. We cannot assume to have enhancement budget at that point, so all work done now will be for the pilot, and quite probably for the roll-out.

We will use the current blog set up as it's fine. SR posts can go into the /blogs page and feeds and blocks, but they also need to go to a separate 'portal' called "stories.transitionnetwork.org" which needs its own stuff outlined below, and could have a slightly cooler look and feel (this can be a trial for a groovier design if that's useful to Laura).

There is an overlap here with /blogs which we generate and aggregate. 'SR' is a specific type of post however, which is technically a subset of /blogs, but semantically quite different.

Beyond the pilot, if suitable, we will want to add other SRs easily off the main platform. And if possible, have an option to aggregate into the SR workflow.

Also, depending on how things pan out, there is another type of 'Storytelling' - the 'mythical' style, which may get project funding next year. This is a project to teach schoolkids about 'mythical' style storytelling (as opposed to our 'citizen journalism' approach). So there may well be other users wanting blog style tools, which will fit into the 'stories.tn.org' portal (ie there may be two story-esque blog subsets in 2012)...

Social Reporters (SR):

standard blog technology but semantically different so needs to work with the existing blog views as well as new SR ones

new user type? Social Reporter: gives a blog to the user. That blog feeds into /blogs and the SR portal

SR blog to have 'stage' as an option - to feed into the portal and the stage landing pages #266

To be represented on their public profile on TN.org "Social Reporter" with link to blog feed

INDIVIDUAL SR BLOG ITEM PAGES:

block to show other SRs linked to their blogs

SR PORTAL requirements:

'transitionnetwork.org/stories'

Panels page - editable and moveable by Ed to feature:

Please merge: '/network/news' and '/news'

So that there is one news stream for 'Transition Network News' content type.

It goes into /news view and related blocks and widgets and RSS feed.

'/network/news' no longer exists

This arose from a navigation workshop yesterday with key staff. We had the situation before as we had originally thought that we would promote either /network/news or /community/news to /news, but that's not going to happen as we're not creating nodes for /community/news (see phase 3 and the sharing engine job for references to this).

Training web page outline: report from meeting

Training homepage:

3 column layout as per the mock up sent by Jane

some style changes to be taken into account. All style across the whole site to be coherent (see Ben Brangwyn email) though so please accept style changes as suggestion only

body broken into two columns, RH column narrower

Main body: two columns

editable introduction field spanning both columns

each column to have editable panels enabling site editors to add and edit and style (within the site styles only) copy, embed and edit images, and youtube embeds

NB Jane has made the text and line spacing very small so it may not look as neat as the mock up. Likewise the very small youtube image is not technically known as possible. Jane has found a blog outlining it how to do it. Ed advised that we may be within the limits of the standard youtube sizing.

Right hand column: one column

Editable blocks with editable colour buttons (by site editors) as per the mock up

-- need to be able to add as many as suitable please
-- is it possible to put flickr badge code into the buttons?
-- EM requesting training calendar view. Also needed: a 'latest training events' view to go into a block here (separate ticket)
NB as before, note text size difference, Jane has gone to point 8 which may not be possible on the site as we need to stick within site styles. Also please note the links at the bottom of the buttons - is it possible to add links into button copy?

Training pages in general:

It is likely we will have multiple second and third level pages in training. These need to keep the training blocks only. See ticket #264 for context related changes.

Ed putting ticket to Jim as he realises that it's really an IA set up, which will be displayed with Laura's design changes, so it's a Jim job, and related to #264...

(this is almost entirely used by training team, so ed is going to change the tab on the main events view to 'Network trainings' on request) and call it training events below.

calendar view

From Ed on #278:

looks great - as discussed, if http://colorpowered.com/colorbox/ is better, get it in - users will want to embed video (thumbnails perhaps) into panes - pop-up would be great.

Have opened new ticket since:

Lightbox referred to in a few views

" " " many panel panes

Gradual phase out better I reckon, then we can drop Lightbox in phase 5

Ed to confirm

lots of errors in watchdog from the Cache Router module, e.g.:

Type	cache
Date	Wednesday, 29 June 2011 - 11:51pm
User	Transition Admin
Location	https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/settings/piwik
Referrer	https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/settings/piwik
Message	Cache write error, failed to open file "sites/default/files/filecache/cache/8/variables-87cd8b8808600624d8c590cfc2e6e94b"
Severity	error
Hostname	86.184.163.71

I think we have a critical data saving issue, probably related to Cache Router not being able to get a write lock for the 'Variables' table's cache file. I've already found and added to the issue at: http://drupal.org/node/1152310

Need to disable module on LIVE tomorrow to see if the issues stop, or track down other possible sources. Thought it deserved a ticket as it's possibly losing us entered user content - and probably more.

so when you're on /blogs/conference-2011 you get the standard /blogs "This is a stream of blog posts from our on-site bloggers, and, a growing list of blogs we re-publish from Transition Voice, This Low Carbon Life, Energy Bulletin's economics feed and Transition US"

Can you remove this for the individual blogs views?

#153: Add a single sign on feature for TN.org

we need a single sign on (/ multi-site API) feature for TN.org for phase 3:

coherent links with the workspaces on workspaces.tn.org

coherent links with other Transition sites - e.g. the incoming Transition drupal, other national hubs and possibly others

some form of API sharing with things like facebook (not sure if this is the same thing but trying to capture some needs here)

things looked at or recommended:
Openauth: http://oauth.net/
CAS: http://drupal.org/project/cas
SSO: http://drupal.org/project/sso

The Transition Initiatives map supports dynamically updating the URL to include the latitude, longitude and zoom level. This allows browser Back functionality to display the same historical map view, instead of resetting to a world view. Also links can be copied and used on other web pages to link to a specific view of the map.

The 350.org actions map gives a good example of this functionality, e.g. http://www.350.org/en/map#/map/53.338406/-1.699959/3

this is attracting some requests from users - can we remove the 'preview' phase when adding forum comments? there was another ticket about including users' photos which is closed, but this is different - can we remove the whole preview phase?

Some users are experiencing strange anomalies when editing initiative profiles: in one specific example

the initiative goes to unpublished (they CANNOT do this themselves so it's not their error)

they are being presented with a captcha (mollom is set to captcha only on ini profiles)

having completed the captcha they get the 'profile updated' message (and the ini profile is unpublished), and then can't access it (as it's unpublished, I presume)

got this error at one point:

Access Denied you are not authorised to access this page - and:

Tools will need to 'fit' into the Ingredients' stages. E.g. Tool 1 needs to be represented in stage #1 of Ingredients. In Rob's view it will be presented as embedded in the list of Ingredients page. We might be able to do something cooler with 'related tools' block for the ingredients' stages.

Editor needs to be able to add a photo to the tool which then shows up neatly in the tool page (as per ingredients) with a caption box

members are being wiped off the list of members. Ed, I don't know what's happening, but basically all the members from Paredes em Transição (but me and my wife - go figure that!) were wiped out from the member listing!!!

Vanda Lopes or Luis Carvalho were both on it - have disappeared...

Currently it's though the roof (anything over 4 and it's maxed out, it has 4 processors):

load average: 43.63, 33.84, 18.85

See also: https://kiwi.transitionnetwork.org/munin/webarch.net/quince.webarch.net.html

This could be because of things Jim is doing combined with the GA import that is running but I'm seeing a *lot* of apache processes so it seems to be combined with a spike in traffic.

I'm keen to migrate the site onto a faster server :-)
