#262: US users adding Ini profiles through the US site

This is *the* big job for phase 4. The US is a pilot for other countries, and other content types. The aim is for TN to be able to publish project directory on TI sites, and enable anyone to add a project via the TI sites in the long term.

US user can add an ini profile to the US site which is also added to the TN directory

US user can edit the ini profile via the US site (possibly not on TN site)

#469: PSE project submission submitter cannot then edit their own project

The user who has added a pse submission which has been approved cannot then edit the project profile when it has been approved. The webmaster who approved it can edit it.

This is not right - the user who added the pse submission which then got turned into a project needs to be the project owner.

The new project is set to the correct author. But that author doesn't have edit rights.

OK, so we need to get a publicly available Git repo in place and move to a modern workflow after importing the existing SVN stuff.

Urgent tasks:

Chris: Tell me where you want to put the master repo? In kiwi:/web or somewhere else?

Jim & Chris: look into best way to clone the repo over the existing structure without affecting the LIVE site

Then later:

Jim: update documentation with new Git workflow
Chris: once proven to work, remove SVN cruft from sites directories.

The rough plan:

A new Transition git master repository lives on Kiwi as the SVN repo does today.
Developers clone it onto their machine, do changes, push/commit them back to master
DEV and TEST sites use a plain git pull from the master
LIVE uses tagged releases only.

There is also an issue with the one !InnoDB table on kiwi which will need investigation and fixing, the dev Mediawiki database backup fails each night, this is the error:

#397: Live server RAM and disk upgrade

The live server is all set to have the additional 1GB of RAM added to it, it just needs a reboot at an appropriate time for this to become available. Once it's available configurations changes will be needed to Apache, Varnish etc to enable applications to make use of it.

In addition to upgrading the RAM we have made a new 15GB partition available to the virtual machine (it'll only appear after a reboot) with the intention of using this for the !MySQL databases. This partition is on a pair of mirrored SCSI disks, the rest of the virtual machine is on a pair of SATA disks.

A quick test of the new partition disk speeds:

 hdparm -tT /dev/FastDisk/quince-var-lib-mysql
/dev/FastDisk/quince-var-lib-mysql:
 Timing cached reads:   3626 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1815.54 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  408 MB in  3.01 seconds = 135.60 MB/sec

Compared to the SATA disks:

hdparm -tT /dev/xvda2
/dev/xvda2:
 Timing cached reads:   1998 MB in  2.00 seconds = 999.00 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  92 MB in  3.03 seconds =  30.34 MB/sec

The faster partition and the switch to !InodeDB, see ticket:396 should, hopefully, result in dramatic performance improvement for !MySQL.

#399: Widget container HTML/CSS/JS development

It turns out the approach I went for originally to save a little work cost us more in the long run, so we need a part of the PSE rebuilt...

Ideally we'd get the PSE to submit a new content type and map the submission back to a 'proper' project when the moderator accepts.
Since I've already written the code to take another form and convert to a Project, I might as well make the new CT plug into the existing stuff.
All the work I've done so far is modular, and able to be tweaked and reused...
As is the code that 'accepts' a project during moderation.

So the changes to fix the issues in several other tickets are:

Add a new CT called 'PSE submission', set up permissions accordingly.
Change existing moderations views to use the new CT.
Move the 'Needs Moderation' field from Projects to PSE submission CT
Various small code fixes.
Testing.

This makes the following tickets become obsolete/duplicates of this: #428, #430, #444, #439 -- will update them accordingly.

I'll make a start now, finish up tomorrow.

SSH to Puffin and replace the default files folder with symlink to the one imported:

Bash autocompletes don't really work with tab for apt-get, service, some filename options etc... miss that a lot!
Users don't seem to be auto-logged out once in via ssh. I've had my pc standby and the connection drop, but the logins I had don't seem to have been killed. According to http://cgp.master.puffin.webarch.net/host.php?h=puffin.webarch.net there are 3 users when I have only 1 session active. Are these yours or from old screens?

STEPS:

user receive an email with a link to login
user login and go to their user account page
user sees a block and clicks on the button in a nag block at the top of the right hand column like the 'add your project/initiative' block in other places: 'Want to add the projects widget to your website? <br> Click this button to set your permissions <button>' - !NB Ed needs to be able to edit this!
user goes to page with (1) pre-ticked widget owners mail chimp subscription and text 'please keep me up to date with changes to widget code and other related updates (no spam, we promise). Widget code will change so please don't opt out of this - we will need to update you' and (2) button for user to click to confirm that they want to be a widget owner which sets their role to 'widget owner' with the text 'Click this button to confirm that you want to be a widget owner. Agreeing to this means that you agree with the <link to T&Cs> Transition Network website terms and conditions</link to T&Cs>.'.

#195: Data tidy up: Rename content types & fields

The site's evolution and meandering path towards its current state has left many of the content types and fields having names that do not match their function, or are slightly inaccurate etc.

E.g. field_profile_related = "For initiative"

Note the text name shown to users is fine, it's the machine name that's a mess or unclear. There are lots of these around the site.

E.g. initiative_event = "Community Event"

Again, now we have initiative_event_external for "Initiative Event" (see #153), it's a mess.

Content types can be renamed with knock-on effects in Views, Context and a few other modules.
CCK fields can be renamed with http://drupal.org/project/cck_field_rename

Not super important, but certainly a consideration going forward as the site is moving slowly but surely away from 'self documenting'.

After closing the widget with the close button (very nice), the user returns back to the TI site. And whatever. But they remain logged into the TN site. There is no function, either automatic or as an option to log out when leaving the widget.

If possible, it is best if closing the widget logs them out.

Possible?

I realise that not many users of Transition sites will be running with NoScript, but if they do they will find they have clearclick warnings on the PSE full page widget, see the screenshot here:

Add project from widget added to edmitchell.co.uk while logged in as test user1 in other tab), went straight to step 2, got error message but it still said it stored the project: " • Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in db_escape_string() (line 410 of /web/transitionnetwork.org/www/includes/database.mysql.inc).

• Unknown error: Function split() is deprecated in mimemail_extract_files() (line 102 of /web/transitionnetwork.org/www/sites/all/modules/mimemail/mimemail.inc)."

Add project information as not logged in, no user account:

"The Project Title field requires a unique value, and the specified value is already used. Matches are found in the following content:

• Trucie's test project"

(But it does create the project; the alert appeared in my admin inbox) User is left hanging...

Change the title to 'truce's project 2' and press return, Proceed - and get to the thank you page.

#439: Projects submitted through the widget are LIVE

Was adding Trucie as new user while adding a new project. Got the following error message:

"Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in _mailchimp_load_user_list_mergevars() (line 927 of/web/transitionnetwork.org/www/sites/all/modules/mailchimp/mailchimp.module)."
