I have installed the http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FCKeditor_%28Official%29 editor on both the dev, http://wiki.dev.transitionnetwork.org/Main_Page and live, http://wiki.transitionnetwork.org/Main_Page mediawiki sites and updated the mediawiki-upgrade script to also update the extension and this has been documented for the dev, https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/wiki/DevelopmentServer#Mediawiki and live, https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/wiki/NewLiveServer#mediawiki servers.

While I was at it I installed http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SpamBlacklist and http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi and you can see a list of the installed extensions here: http://wiki.transitionnetwork.org/Special:Version#Installed_extensions

Very sorry it took so long to get around to this ticket, I hope the person who was up for licking it into shape is still on for it...

If any more extensions are needed they should now be quicker to add, test and subsequently update, there are loads to choose from: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Extensions
