Other options to consider:

Increase the RAM available to the existing virtual server, this is very easy and quick to do, currently the physical server has 3Gb spare. This wouldn't cost anything in time.

Buy a dedicated server, this would take longer to configure and set up.

At the Skype meeting last night (meeting time added to this ticket) it was agreed to add 1GB of RAM to the wiki:NewLiveServer, this can be done as soon as we agree when would be a good time to do it.

And it was also agreed that adding additional RAM would also be considered in a months time.

The RAM upgrade in Feb 2012 was done on ticket:397, the wiki page has been updated, see the diff, to add a new option, Sheffield New Virtual Server.

Agreed: move to 6GB WA server in Sheffield once that is ready, then prepare the environment for drupal (barracuda?) in advance of running a parallel copy of TN.org to test and check. To be paid from Nominet budget and core.
