I suspect:

The site was compromised when Simon was running it.

The processing of text like this: called ["The Place of a Local Currency in a World Economy"](http://www.schumachersociety.org/newsletters/04jun18.html”Swann”) into hyperlinks has been broken somehow.

I had to make some changes to the Nginx and Trac config files to allow images of this size to be posted.

Annesley I remember you saying that there was a way to sort it out. It's worth spending 15 minutes investigating at most for now. We also need to ask Simon Lumpy Lemon, who owned the site originally for his input. I'll email Simon now. This isn't an urgent issue for Rob so we don't have to dash into anything.

I'm away on holiday at the moment, I can take a proper look after the 14th when I'm back at work.

Two quick thoughts for now:

It looks as though the links and blockquote in that post are written in Markdown format. I have no idea why that would be the case, I didn't even know that Rob knew Markdown! There is no plugin running to interpret the Markdown, hence the messed-up formatting.

Markdown uses square brackets for links, which is also what WordPress uses for shortcodes, so my guess is the two are clashing somehow and the WordPress shortcode handler is getting in a muddle.

Let me know if you get to the bottom of it or if you want me to look into it after my return. It maybe as simple as installing a Markdown plugin (or it might not...!). Cheers Simon
