Looks like all the tickets for BOA 2.4.2 have been closed and it is due to be released today:
The Changelog has not yet been updated:
For some unknown reason BOA no longer sends emails when a new version is out so the Changelog will need checking manually.

I'm a bit concerned that with the debian MySQL packages now having a number greater that the MariaDB packages we might end up with BOA uninstalling MariaDB or something:
apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... Done The following packages will be REMOVED: libmariadbclient-dev libmariadbclient18 libmariadbd-dev mariadb-client-5.5 mariadb-client-core-5.5 mariadb-server-5.5 mariadb-server-core-5.5 The following packages will be upgraded: libmysqlclient18 1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 7 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 0 B/677 kB of archives. After this operation, 117 MB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
If BOA uses upgrade then it'll be OK:
apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages have been kept back: libmysqlclient18 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
See: ticket:692#comment:180 and I have opened a BOA ticket about this for reassurance before doing the upgrade https://github.com/omega8cc/boa/issues/697

- Add Hours to Ticket changed from 0.0 to 0.1
- Total Hours changed from 0.5 to 0.6
The MySQL issues shouldn't be a problem:"BOA doesn't use dist-upgrade for normal upgrades" https://github.com/omega8cc/boa/issues/697#issuecomment-97547325
So I'm going to do the upgrade now.

MariaDB 5.5.43 now available which solves this issue.
Also there are a couple of variables that it has been suggested are changed, _STRICT_BIN_PERMISSIONS and _SQUEEZE_TO_WHEEZY, however _SQUEEZE_TO_WHEEZY was commented out, see https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/attachment/ticket/844/barracuda.cnf but it has been changed to NO.
I have updated the BOA ticket:
And upgraded to the new version of MariaDB:

And BOA has sent this email:
Date: Fri, 01 May 2015 23:10:20 +0100 From: chris@webarchitects.co.uk To: chris@webarchitects.co.uk Subject: Your Aegir Upgrade on Fri May 1 23:10:20 BST 2015 [tn] Hello, Your Aegir Hosting System has been upgraded to version BOA-2.4.2 https://tn.puffin.webarch.net This new BOA release includes 15 updated Aegir platforms, 13 new software versions, plus over 23 bug fixes and improvements. IMPORTANT! Please note that this is the last BOA upgrade which still allows to use deprecated PHP 5.3 by default, even if it is no longer maintained, so it will never receive fixes for many bugs and known security issues. Next BOA upgrade (2.4.3) will force PHP 5.5 on all hosted Aegir instances, unless you will explicitly opt-out *before* that upgrade using PHP version control files, as explained in our docs at: https://omega8.cc/how-to-quickly-switch-php-to-newer-version-330 We recommend that you try to switch to PHP 5.5 or even 5.6 as soon as possible, so you could effectively detect any possible issues with your site(s) and switch them explicitly to PHP 5.3 until you will be able to fix problems and start using the latest, much faster and secure PHP version. If you will not configure PHP version as explained in our docs, your instance will be automatically switched to PHP 5.5 during the *next* BOA upgrade, expected in June 2015. We recommend that you upgrade your sites using this safe workflow: https://omega8.cc/your-drupal-site-upgrade-safe-workflow-298 You can find all details on how to use new features, along with all other changes explained in the release notes and changelog available at: https://omega8.cc/boa-242-full-edition-353 It is always highly recommended that you read extensive release notes and changelog posted on our website for previous BOA Editions, so you could keep track on the progress and learn more about great features and improvements we have made over the last few years, no matter when you have started using Aegir powered by BOA: https://omega8.cc/updates Questions? Hello, I just had a quick look at the TN site on my local server, using PHP 5.5.3, and I can see lots of PHP strict warning messages but no reported errors. Also, when browsing the site I can't see anything that's obviously broken.
