Notes edited from Laura Whitehead from 05/13:
- Translations: The auto translations were ahem, abit woolly in places, I corrected a fair few of the German, French and some of the others but all the hubs thought fab that we were at least making an effort.
- A couple of the hub contacts wanted special accounts set up for them (you'll see in the user lists in wp admin) with a special role when they wanted to tweak the translations. Guide attached as mentioned.
- Upgrades: I can't do upgrades at present (5/13), as two of the plugins have been totally re-written and need full reconfiguration and theme tweaks relating to e-commerce, and that also ties in with needing the up to date postage amounts in the table shipping plugin.
- Shipping costs: I'd helped speed up the process when it first launched as there was an incorrect calculation of postage costs which I ended up working out (voluntarily) over a long time for items - multiplying and so on. Last May the delightful Post Office changed its postage rates, and more or less at the same time, there was a glitch with something on Chris's hosting which wiped out most of the shipping rates I'd inputted when I tried to update them (now fixed). So I reinput them again with some updates, then awaited updated postage costs. (can send the tables of equation and costs needing inputting if needed, tho Amber will have them too). Anyway, cut long story short, the UK shipping is more or less per item now to a certain amount as the new data never came forward, understandably, with Amber being busy doing loads and loads of stuff last summer. I'd need the updated shipping costs (not just the Post Office rate - but the full equation total for items and increments for all the different zones we ship too as per the sheet that send to Amber eons ago.), then could happily allocate some time to get core WP and then the plugins up to date and reset up how all the shipping works.
- Upgrades: this is more than just upgrading plugins, it is also templating php files and css alterations as well as inputting the shipping data and config'ing it.
- Content on the site now out of date: One thing about the TN movie site, lots of the content on there, was really to boost the sales and raise excitement about the site (eg - screenings listings, blog posts, and for the setting up of booking screenings to gain some extra fees and so on.) some of that is a little stale on their now (so is the twitter feed on the home page! Not been updated!!!), so could realistically do with some thought on what should show on the home page or other pages. Happy to still help out with this site, it was amazingly successful rather than using a 'paypal' button like the previous movie, users felt safe that they were ordering from something set up properly which I think really helped with the sales.
- Theme information: It was a custom theme I'd developed for something else that wasn't used in the end as had to produce 2 designs for a different project, so was quick at the time to theme up the final bits to look tnmovie-ish, and I know the code well (obviously).
- Theme not-re-use request: NB: I supplied the theme solely for use on tnmovie. It is not meant for use on other sites. I don’t mind paid work being recycled for other stuffs, but this was a volunteering bit on the side rather than work, so please don’t re-use it elsewhere.
