Description (last modified by ed) (diff)

The Ingredients are what the Patterns used to be, with some changes. Some patterns are now ingredients, and some are now tools (and some became projects, but that's irrelevant for this ticket). When the changes became apparent, Ed deleted all the old patterns. Then added all the temporary content into them with Helen just in case they would be needed. Now Ed will be adding the first wave of final content back into the 'Ingredients' on Wednesday 22 June. Ed has sent Jim the sample of the book to get an idea.

Getting a bunch of this done by 22/06 09:00 would be great; we could get feedback quickly for iterative work.

  1. Change all references everywhere from patterns to ingredients

Index page: /ingredients

  • Each stage to have stage heading (linked to stage page)
  • Lists of ingredients by stage (all hyperlinks)
  • Tools in this section to fit into the stages as well if possible: #246

Stage page: /ingredients/[stage-name]

  • Stage title
  • Stage introduction copy
  • List of Ingredients in that stage (hyperlinks)
  • List of Tools in that stage (hyperlinks)
  • Blocks on RHS:

-- Related tools
-- Related resources
-- Related projects

Individual Ingredients pages: /ingredients/[stage-name]/[ingredient-name]
(Must have printable option in A4 format to show Title, picture, Challenge, main copy teaser, Solution (going to need a 'print' icon somewhere, sorry Laura))
IN ORDER:

  • Ingredient title (size: H2)
  • Ingredient picture automatically embedded from admin adding
  • "Challenge" (size: H3)
  • Challenge blurb (usually one, two lines max)
  • "Description" (size H3)
  • Description blurb (teaser of description copy (length TBC) with anchor link/more link for full description (rollover appear or anchor link) (size: normal)
  • "Solution" (size: H3)
  • Solution blurb (usually one, two lines max)
  • "Full Description"
  • Full description copy (linked to from the teaser as above)

Blocks on RHS (driven by whether two-way relationships have been added by editors. If no data, do not show block, visibility and position to be moveable by Ed)

  • Related Ingredients
  • Related Tools
  • Related Projects
  • Related Resources
  • Comments to this ingredient

NB: therefore:

  1. remove the following from the 'patterns' (which will be re-named 'ingredients' profile:
  • Ratings
  • Confidence level
  • 'Larger patterns within which this sits' reference fields
  • Pattern status
  • BOTH WYSIWYG editors for links to other patterns (Context, Connections to other patterns)
  1. Rename:
  • 'Smaller patterns to think about...' with 'Related ingredients' reference fields

Blocks and views:

These will also appear on the 'stages' landing pages #266 so a view is required for that too.

Permissions, Panels and Views next up.

comment:8 Changed 5 years ago by jim

To do next

  • Custom breadcrumbs
  • 'related X' blocks as Ed imagines they'll be
  • A decent Panels layout (perhaps based on TUS's homepage 2/3/4 col dream as a good container layout)

comment:9 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Owner changed from jim to ed
  • Priority changed from blocker to critical
  • Status changed from accepted to assigned

Need Ed's feedback and layout ideas (plenty of my own, but wanted to hear the plan from the horse's mouth)...

And this is no longer a blocker since the CTs now exist.

Layout ideas I've had are here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/edmittance/5852663197

Open to suggestions from JK, LW

Happy with panels to date so would enjoy tinkering with them.

Design with LW - to bring gently closer to book, TUS, training screengrab, all a bit trendier, white-er etc.

Must be able to be printed on one sheet of A4

comment:11 Changed 5 years ago by ed

need:

  1. add an 'add more' option for 'related ingredients' (two way relnhp)
  2. add 'related resources' function (two way relnhp)

comment:12 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Status changed from assigned to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed
  1. Done.
  2. Done and made to correspond with the mirror on Resources. (2way)

comment:13 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Status changed from closed to reopened
  • Resolution fixed deleted

Didn't mean to close this one..

Still to do:

  • Stage page: /ingredients/[stage-name] vs /[stage-name] --- Ed, is the original spec changed now you want the stages separated?
  • Custom breadcrumbs
  • 'related X' blocks as Ed envisages they'll be --- Ed?
  • To import the TUS panels layout to use generally around the site (waiting on #265)
  • Laura's love once the layout is available.
  • Responding to feedback.

comment:14 Changed 5 years ago by ed

Errm, forgot to add:

  1. they all have numbers - we need numbers
  2. they will need to be presented in a numbered list as the patterns were, within their stages (see the book sample i sent over if you haven't burnt out your eyeballs yet)

Answers:

  1. stage page: the stage landing page needs to be tn.org/stage-name, the ingredients need to be /ingredients/stage-name/ingredient-name
  1. related blocks as per the outline above:

Blocks on RHS (driven by whether two-way relationships have been added by editors. If no data, do not show block, visibility and position to be moveable by Ed)

  • Related Ingredients
  • Related Tools
  • Related Projects
  • Related Resources
  • Comments to this ingredient
  1. layout - shall we discuss this on skype - after the https skype tomorrow perhaps?

comment:15 Changed 5 years ago by ed

fyi ed just changed the auto-url for first and last stages

from: 'starting-out' to 'starting'
from: 'daring-to-dream' to 'daring'

comment:16 Changed 5 years ago by ed

hmm, i can't get the ingredients to show the shortened url:
http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients/starting-out/inclusion-and-diversity

i have made the url for the stages to the shortened version, but it's not coming out here.

comment:17 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Numbers added
  • Views work to do - and /ingredients is messed up, really needs a panel page created - will after lunch.
  • Paths sorted
  • Layout still waiting for #263
  • 'Blocks' as Ed describes them should in fact be panel panes I reckon... That way we start to not have to worry about Context.

comment:18 Changed 5 years ago by ed

things ed's noticing for discussion:

  1. is it sensible to limit the 'description' field to a specified number of chars so that it looks uniform on the page?
  2. pls raise the size limit of images to 3MB
  3. All photos have a caption - would be good to include that in the page design
  4. Blocks: as you see fit, yes probably panes are better

comment:19 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Ingredients page now panels-based: http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients - a starting point.
  • Made 'Description' max 300 chars
  • Filesize -> 3Mb.
  • Created a new view with a caption, replaced plain image. So that's done.
  • Layout/blocks still waiting for #263

Done for now...

comment:20 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  1. need to organise the ingredients by their numbers (may not be any in there yet, numbers added mid-content adding today)
  2. going to need a shiney 'buy the book' button/block/ad thing to help with the marketing effort in the run up to the book
  3. all agreed - ingredients won't go live until very close to book launch. will be 'teaser' style marketing in advance in some way to encourage sales of book in some way...

comment:21 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  1. bug: when adding two pictures, only the first one shows:

http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients/starting/creating-space-inner-transition

  1. might need to show ingredient number in public page

comment:22 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  1. Ingredients ARE organised by number, but no number set yet. Do they need displaying (on /ingredients) or is the sort we have in place ok?
  2. Laura!
  3. Since they're not going live for a bit I've set Ingredients to UNpublished by default - ok?
  4. ALL Pictures now display, plus I've added a little spacing between them.
  5. Number added to display for now... Could be in main page title - e.g. "8 - Doing the boogaloo"?

comment:23 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  1. cool, just checking - it's good for now, ta
  2. yes, she's cc-ed to this ticket
  3. good thinking
  4. nice
  5. yes, could be in main title, but that would intefere with the URL, no? I'm guessing they'll want it somewhere (including the /ingredents and '/ingredients/stage-name' pages

(one for a chat after chris skype tomorrow)

comment:24 Changed 5 years ago by jim

I would suggest NOT putting the number in the URL as it adds nothing. However, each Panel page can have it's own title, and that can be based on any fields in the node, title included.

So the number (or anything else) can go in the title without affecting the URL.

comment:25 Changed 5 years ago by ed

I would not suggest putting number in URL either. Very handy panel page thing. Keep that as an option, please.

comment:26 Changed 5 years ago by jim

Custom breadcrumbs done, and following on from Stages (#266), look like "Home » Ingredients of Transition » Starting out » Coming together as groups" with links to /ingredients and /starting respectively.

comment:27 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  • Owner changed from jim to ed
  • Status changed from reopened to assigned

ED: bung in content, get used to breadcrumb confusion - run by rob/amber/ben

comment:28 Changed 5 years ago by jim

(as discussed on #280)

See: http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients/starting/jims-test-ingredient for all the RHS related blocks of dreams: Tools, Ingredients, Projects, Resources AND Training.

Will that do? Not sure about the constant use of the word 'Related'...

comment:29 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  • Owner changed from ed to jim
  1. as discussed on skype: word related can be made into the RH column title
  2. missing: link from description teaser to 'full description' is required
  3. missing: 'recent comments' block for ingredients section to go into RH column in section
  4. not forgetting the 'print the summary as A4' option

comment:30 Changed 5 years ago by ed

  1. please make the listings in stages and ingredients NOT have bullets

comment:31 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  1. Ed has control via Panels...
  2. link added, see http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients/starting/jims-test-ingredient 3a. Are these comment titles comments for the WHOLE ingredients section, or just the one being viewed? I reckon the 'comments at the bottom' default is the best bet here, so I'm guessing you mean the former? 3b. Dumb link added... Gonna need some style overrides to fit it on a single sheet - see attached output PDF.
  3. No bullets now.

comment:32 Changed 5 years ago by ed

3a. yes - I'd say comments on individual ingredients go into 'comments at bottom, last comment at top' as standard. A 'recent comments to ingredients' block would show all comments to ingredients.
3b. Laura to do - we'll need that 'print this page' link to be a little more prominent (but Rob might get cold feet and ask for it to be less blatent, having asked for it originally!)

  1. ta

comment:33 Changed 5 years ago by ed

http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ingredients

each stage needs to have a little field to add a short explano-blurb under the stage title (because we don't have a /stages homepage

comment:34 Changed 5 years ago by jim

  • Comments section added, plus view to all recent comments for ingredients
  • Laura's on the print style sheet case.
  • Explano blurb added, though there is now /stages as discussed before.

I reckon this ticket is done for me now, just styling and tweaks left...
