Description

Today, we're having emails that are being sent from various tn.org email addresses being rejected, one to a verizon email address and this evening hotmail email addresses too.

Not being an email whizz, (!) what do I do, Is this something to take up with United Hosting who do the email side of things, or something else I need to be doing?

This is a sample of the reply to one of my rejected emails below to a hotmail address -

The United Hosting mailserver, stingray.xssl.net, 212.113.133.235, appears to have got onto a blacklist and they need to get it removed.

However I have done some look ups and I can't find a blacklist that it's on.

I could explain the headers if detail if you would like.

It needs raising with United and they need to raise it with the servers blocking their servers to ask them to lift the block.

Given the number of domains running off this servers it's not suprising -- it just needs one United client to do some spamming (or one customer to get taken over by a spambot) and a load of spam to be sent out and the server then get's blocked and all the customers suffer -- there is a partial list of domains using this mail server here:

Thanks Chris - I had a lookup earlier too and nothing showed up. I'll raise a ticket with them.

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

Swift response from UH -
"An account on stingray server was abused to send spam emails to hotmail addresses causing mails from Stingray to be rejected by hotmail. We have already tracked the account and suspended to avoid further problems."

Closing! :)
