Can we make the subscriptions management admin view re-order-able?

Description

I use this view when I need to find subscriptions for users who are receiving email alerts to old accounts:
https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions

I am finding that if a user changes their email address in their user account, it does not update that email address in the subscriptions settings, so they continue to receive alerts to their old address. So I go to this view, dig out the incorrect sub, and kill it.

Which is a PITA.

Can we make it possible to make the 'users' column clickable so I could re-order it alphabetically? That would be really cool.

  • Add Hours to Ticket changed from 0.0 to 0.125
  • Total Hours changed from 0.0 to 0.125

Odd... since a sub is related to a user, you should be able to go to that user and edit their subs from their user tabs...

But as I'm a nice chap I made you a view that allows you to filter the subs by part of email address: https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions/by-email -- also in menu at Messaging & Notifications -> Subscriptions -> Subscriptions by email.

Let me know...

Good start - can you include these columns from https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions/admin into the new view:

Type
Description
Operations

and the option to select one or more of the subs and chose from the update options

?

  • Add Hours to Ticket changed from 0.0 to 0.3
  • Total Hours changed from 0.125 to 0.425

Unfortunately not. The other fields you want are not available, and there's no Views Bulk Operations integration to add (tried this first, no operations available).

So I've made you a nice shortcut so you can jump straight to the user's subs admin page -- any good?

hmm ok. the problems I've been having are finding subs to emails that seem to have become un-linked (or weren't linked to) accounts in the first place, which made them very hard to find. So this might help or not. Will grizzle later if suitable.

I'm reopening this as it doesn't work for me. Try doreen.fazio@… or doreen.fazio@… - another user who changed her user account email address and is still receiving emails to the old account...

I'm guessing these are people who signed for emails up as anonymous users... their account is therefore not connected to the sub, so email changes won't work.

I'm not sure there is a way in the current UI to manage anonymous subs. If a user's account email has been changed then their subs made though that account should be updated.

What's the pattern, Ed?

I dig around and look for emails in the subs listings here, which has worked once or twice:
https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions

The pattern in this instance is that users are subbed, then change their email address, but the system continues to send them alerts to the old address. It happens. I went through this with a user a few months ago and it's back. My answer then was delete the account, open it again a day or two later, and it worked.

This instance is below. This user changed her email to 'doreen.fazio@…' but the system is still sending her updates to 'doreen.fazio@…'. We can see it is a user account as she is greeted with username.

I'm going to delete her account as I did in the last instance of this.

It is a mystery - I think one of the improvements for TNv3 will have to be better user management backend!

I think it's also worth noting that the search by email function:
https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions/by-email?mail=edmitchell+

the search function hasn't worked for me at all.

Try searching for edmitchell - nothing comes up but see the list of subs here:
https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions/by-email?page=14

AND: on the email listings - we know that Doreen has a sub (see last comment) but her email is not listed in the email listings view:
https://www.transitionnetwork.org/admin/messaging/subscriptions/by-email?page=13

  • Status changed from reopened to closed
  • Resolution set to wontfix

closing this as drupal clearly gets out of synch between the user account and the email and the notifications updating

  1. we have a work-around - which is to DELETE the user account and open it a couple of days later
  1. getting to the bottom of this is not worth doing - we need to ensure we have better CRM facilities in TN v3
