Description

Can users delete their own accounts?
I've looked at user settings and can't find any clues?
Can you point me to a user account setting which would enable them to delete their own accounts (and their profiles by proxy)?

Apologies -- I was thinking the function was in D6, but it's D7+ only.

So we'd need a module to achieve this in D6: ​https://drupal.org/project/user_delete

Do we want/need this? Shall I add to the makefile?

Nah. I'm happy to do it as frontline support myself. more reasons to move to D7
