  • Component changed from Live server to Parrot server

Hi, sorry I haven't got around to doing this sooner, thanks for picking it up.

I was intending to clone the site and test the upgrade on a copy of the site first.

There is also this ticket for the upgrade, ticket:619, it appears you have done the upgrade already, checking with the commandline wp tool:

cd /home/tc/sites/default
wp core version
3.7.1

There is also this outstanding issue with the site: ticket:656

Oops I got that wrong, the latest version is 3.8.1.

Hi Chris,

Sorry didn't realise there was a ticket for this already. Do you want to go ahead and do it?

I was just going to back up the database on the basis it's only an archive and Wordpress generally updates in a problem free way.

A full copy sounds like the safer way to go though.

I'd probably stick Wordfence on it as per comment here /trac/ticket/656

Best

Sam

So I exported the content as a .xml file just in case the backup plugin broke things.

I then installed https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/ & I'm currently backing up the database & filesystem to Dropbox.

I'll then install Wordfence and see if there is any warnings/malware
.
Once that's done I'll update the plugins, then core.

Then test it's all still working.

Hi Chris

It's just a case of fat fingers & typo in email. I'll update it.

I chickened out of doing the core update without having a test run so i'll do a test on my local machine first.

I did the plugin update & Wordfence install yesterday. Have you seen any bounced/spam emails since about 6pm yesterday?

Thanks

Sam

Updated and spam issue appears fixed too:/trac/ticket/656 I removed a couple of dodgy spam/malware comments based on the wordpress scan.

Archiving of Rob's blog to private posts confirmed as still working.
