Description

Hi all

The web project board has decided to move from Piwik to Google Analytics.

I realise this has significant privacy implications, these were discussed, but it was decided that the move would go ahead.

I have discussed with Ainslie adding an opt out in the form of a link to EFF's Privacy badger: https://www.eff.org/privacybadger This will be added to the cookie pop up bar in the new website.

Could we enable the Google Analytics module on the existing site so I can add in the tracking code.

Thanks

Sam

Why on earth would you want to do that given the nature of Google?!

I'll get this done tomorrow.

It's not something I'm personally that enthused by. It's the decision of the group that has responsibility for Transition network webservices of which I'm only a small part. It was based on cost and effectiveness. I do believe that Google Analytics is a more usable and powerful bit of software than piwik. I also think that users installing privacy badger will offer them better protection from spying than hoping that the webmasters of the world are using piwik.

  • Add Hours to Ticket changed from 0.0 to 0.5
  • Total Hours changed from 0.0 to 0.5

I have enabled the Google Analytics module.

I also checked that no security updates need to be applied before enabling the module.

When I first tried to access the Google Analytics administrator page I got the message: You are not authorized to access this page. So, I adjusted the permissions so that anyone with the administrator role can access this page.
